At Studio Préniac we are offering a range of creative holidays for 2007, including drawing and painting and creative textiles.

Our courses are suitable for beginners who may lack confidence and would like to try something new in a supportive environment and also those with more experience who would relish the opportunity to work in a studio environment and with like minded people.

We limit our course numbers to 10 so all students are guaranteed plenty of individual attention.

Our goal is for all our guests to thoroughly enjoy all aspects of their holiday. We therefore tailor our weeks to include a combination of art based activities, site seeing in the local area or simply relaxing by the pool.

All our creative holidays are fully inclusive except for flights, and include a continental breakfast, a light lunch and a 4 course dinner with wine either at Préniac or taken at one of our excellent local restaurants. Vegetarians can be catered for by arrangement.

We can arrange to pick you up from Bergerac airport and during the week you will be taken to inspirational locations for sketching and site seeing.

Our creative holidays run from Saturday to Saturday, with demonstrations and tuition throughout the week in our lovely 18th studio barn and in the beautiful countryside and villages of the southern Lot.

Most of our guest rooms offer ensuite shower or bathrooms and non participating partners are very welcome. There is no single supplement, however single guests may be required to share an adjacent bathroom with one other, depending on availability of ensuite bedrooms.

Once the course has finished guests can extend their holiday for a few days if they wish on a bed and breakfast basis.

Art at Studio Préniac

Autumn 2007 During this course participating guests will be shown a range of art techniques demonstrated in our lovely converted 18th century studio barn. These will include working with a range of drawing materials such as fine line pen, inks, chalk and charcoal and exploring different media in colour, including pastel, acrylics, pen and ink, mixed media and collage. Through workshops guests will develop confidence in the use of line, tone, texture, colour and composition.

Guests will then get a chance to practice their chosen techniques, both on site, in the surrounding countryside and in the beautiful hilltop and bastide villages of the area. With the help and guidance of their tutor, guests will be encouraged to develop their work based on their personal choices and strengths and to gain confidence and enjoyment in creating their own individual artwork.

All materials are included although you may want to bring your favourite brushes and a sketchbook.

Creative Textiles at Studio Préniac

Autumn 2007 During this week your tutor will demonstrate a range of textile techniques and will help participating guests develop textile samples of their own. The techniques will include fabric manipulation , brush and tie dyeing and hand and machine embroidery.

We will then explore the stunning countryside and villages around Préniac for inspiration, taking digital photos and making quick sketches to develop personal ideas based on the skills learnt. With the help and guidance of your tutor, guests will be encouraged to design and make a decorative textile based on their interests and personal strengths.

Most materials are provided, although you should bring a sketch book and the usual sewing kit (scissors, needles, pins and a selection of embroidery and machine threads).

Your Tutor

Your tutor for both weeks will be Liz Halls-Moore. Liz is a highly qualified and experienced art teacher who has taught students at all levels in both art and textiles for over 20 years, including A level and postgraduate students, and latterly ran a highly successful art department in the UK before moving to Préniac.
